Variety reports the following:
James Cromwell and Bruce Greenwood have signed to co-star in "I, Robot," the 20th Century Fox adaptation of the Isaac Asimov book that just began shooting in Vancouver.
They join Will Smith, Bridget Moynihan and Chi McBride in the Alex Proyas-directed pic.
Cromwell ("L.A. Confidential") plays Dr. Lanning, the eccentric creator of the most advanced robot ever built, while Greenwood ("Hollywood Homicide") plays Lance Robertson, the bullish top exec at U.S. Robotics who tries to impede a murder investigation. Smith stars as Detective Spooner, a technophobe who's trying to track down the murderers in the futuristic film. He suspects robots, though their programming prohibits them from doing harm to humans.
