Dean Parisot Has Fun with Dick and Jane

Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot will helm Fun With Dick and Jane, the Columbia Pictures-based remake of the 1977 comedy that will star Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz. Parisot has been working with scribes Judd Apatow and Nick Stoller on the script. Filming will begin next June with Brian Grazer producing.

Parisot took the job after Barry Sonnenfeld dropped out of the film. He had been set to direct Bruce Willis and Diane Lane in the Intermedia thriller Me Again, but he became available after the project imploded.

George Segal and Jane Fonda starred in the original as an upper-middle-class couple who turn to pulling heists to pay their bills. In the update, Carrey plays a spokesman for an Enron-like company who not only finds himself jobless, but also a pariah because he had been carrying the torch for a despicable enterprise.
